The Brief
East and West building could no longer maintain the heating demand by the existing MHS regency 2 atmospheric floor standing boilers due to only 1 boiler in operation per building. There was 2x boilers in East building and 1x boiler in West building no longer in operation and impossible to bring them back in line due to parts being obsolete. We were brought in to design and improve the efficiency of the heating demands.
The Solution
East building: Replaced 3x MHS regency 2 atmospheric boilers for 3x Viessmann Vitocrossal CIB 120KW V100 boilers
West building: Replaced 2x MHS regency 2 atmospheric boilers for 2x Viessmann Vitocrossal CIB 120KW V100 boilers
Being involved in a number of mechanical jobs throughout the years we was familiar of the water quality being poor with the heating system therefore we proposed on fitting plate heat exchangers for hydraulic separation and to protect the new boilers. By having the plate heat exchangers fitted resulted in minimising potential breakdowns and maintaining the warranty with Viessmann.
Both systems had a Vitotronic 300 controller fitted which managed the efficiency of the boilers and heating demand.
The Result
Following the completion of all the pipework and electrical services, we carried out extensive testing and commissioning of the system. This entailed to test LTHW system to ensure there were no leaks on the newly installed system.
The gas services were purged tested and signed off before commencing with turning any plant on. We checked all connections onto the existing system and once all these checks were completed, we fired up the boilers and began the testing of heating demand.
The system worked really well, and the desired temperatures were met. After the complete commissioning all pipework was lagged and labelled and O&M manuals were provided.
